A proposal to expand Yesenia Garcia's original thesis performance, Recuerdos de Maricruz, has been just been accepted into the Dixon Place's Fall Performance Series in New York City.

This series focuses on new theatre, performance art, puppetry, dance, music and interdisciplinary collaborations from today's most innovative artists. There is an open submission process for the series and Executive Director Ellie Covan, as curator, reviews hundreds of proposals each year by emerging and mid-career artists from around the country. They typically select 2-3 performers or groups, with new works 20-45 minutes in length, for each scheduled event. The goal of the series is to feature a diversity of disciplines and perspectives, and to encourage artistic risk-taking in a supportive, intimate and professional environment. The projects presented are in varying stages of completion; some artists or groups use the program to put the finishing touches on their work before they take it to a larger venue, while others are presenting their projects to an audience for the first time.

This performance will be an exploration of delving deeper into the character of Maricruz, and introducting the voice of her husband, sons and daughters.
